Funky Dan is a Newcastle-based producer crafting off-kilter, wonky lofi built from found sounds, dusty textures and mangled folk instrumentation. Drawing on his roots in the Newcastle folk scene playing banjo, he twists familiar acoustic tones into warped, rhythmic fragments that sit comfortably beside crooked beats and glitchy synths. His music blends beat-tape nostalgia with experimental sound collage, turning imperfections and everyday noises into groove and atmosphere. His self-titled EP captures this approach with breathing, unpolished beats that feel handmade and human, showcasing a loose, character-rich sound shaped by instinct, experimentation and a love of sonic accidents.
